Candidate for Manhattan/Ogden USD 383 Board of Education

I'm excited to embark on a campaign for a second term on the USD 383 Board of Education. When I ran in 2021, my goal was to be an advocate for ALL students and staff, and I believe I have been able to fulfill that role over the past three years. I have been continually impressed by the quality and dedication of our district’s teachers and staff, and I want to do my part to continue to support them in their work educating our community's children. I hope you will support me in continuing in this role for another term.

During my first term, I advocated for many changes, including:

• Growing options for career and technical education, work-force readiness, and adding concurrent college classes through Kansas State University,
• Increasing state funding for special education services, as required by state statute, and
• Supporting the behavioral and mental health needs of our students through the addition of behavioral interventionists and school-wide professional development.

I believe our school district faces many important issues: continuing to find ways to meet the needs of our diverse student body; allocation of resources in times of uncertain funding from the State and Federal Government; staff recruitment and retention, focusing on increasing the diversity of our staff; and advocating for an environment of equity and inclusion for all students and staff. We have a strong district leadership team focused on making data-driven decisions to increase student growth and success.
